Hemet: Motorcyclist Uziel Montano Fatally Injured in Crash

At about 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2014, 20-year-old motorcyclist Uziel Montano, of Homeland, was fatally injured in a crash in Hemet, reported The Press-Enterprise. Montano collided with a vehicle in the 3800 block of West Devonshire Avenue. Emergency responders transported him to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. Authorities are investigating the crash and have asked that anyone with information about it call the Department’s Traffic Investigation Bureau at 951-765-3725.
According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, 396 people were killed or injured in crashes that occurred in Hemet in 2011. Sixteen of the victims were motorcyclists. Hemet ranked poorly for motor vehicle collisions (19th out of 102 similarly sized cities) and slightly better for motorcycle accidents (24th out of 102 similarly sized cities). Rider deaths rose 4.6 percent in California from 415 in 2011 to 435 in 2012.
