Hesperia: Chevrolet Impala Struck, Fatally Injured Taylor Chriswell

Shortly before 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014, a Chevrolet Impala struck and fatally injured 7-year-old Taylor Chriswell in Hesperia, reported the Daily Press. The second-grade Juniper Elementary School student was crossing at the intersection of Sycamore Street and Peach Avenue when the 2002 silver Chevrolet Impala hit her. Chriswell suffered major trauma and was airlifted to Loma Linda Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries. Authorities are investigating the accident and have requested that witnesses contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Hesperia Station at 760-947-1500.
In Hesperia, motor vehicle collisions claimed the lives of or caused injury to 340 people in 2011, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current accident data. Eleven of the accidents that resulted in injury or death involved pedestrians. Hesperia ranked 90th out of 102 cities for its incidence of fatal and injury pedestrian accidents in a ranking system in which 1st place is considered the worst.
