Posted on Aug 18, 2014

At about 8:50 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2014, a vehicle struck and killed 10-year-old bicyclist Arnold Covarrubias in Hesperia, reported The Press-Enterprise. The accident occurred at the intersection of Main Street and Third Avenue. Emergency responders transported him to an area hospital, where he was declared dead a short time later. The accident is under investigation.

With an average population of 90,727, Hesperia recorded 340 fatal and injury traffic accidents in 2011, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current crash data. Bicyclists accounted for 12 of the victims, none of whom were under the age of 15. The OTS compared Hesperia’s accident record with those of 101 other similarly sized cities, ranking it 49th for vehicle collisions and 87th for bicycle accidents in a rating system in which 1st place is considered the worst.

When a motorist claims the life of a bicyclist, the family of the victim may file a wrongful death claim against the motorist in order to be compensated for their loss. For more information, please call 888-752-7474 or contact us online.
