Posted on Dec 19, 2013
At about 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, December 18, a car struck and killed 82-year-old pedestrian Jungil Lee, of Fountain Valley, in Huntington Beach, reported the Orange County Register. An Infinity G35 hit Lee near Garfield Avenue and Persimmon Street. He was declared dead at the scene. Authorities are investigating the accident and have requested that witnesses contact them at 714-536-5670.
At some point, we’re all pedestrians, whether for the short walk to the store or the long stroll through the park. Unfortunately, the threat to our safety is greater than for other road users, with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recording an increasing number of traffic deaths, from 4,280 in 2010 to 4,432 fatalities in 2011. In 2010, pedestrian deaths accounted for 13 percent of all traffic fatalities in motor vehicle crashes.
After a fatal accident, the family of the victim may pursue a wrongful death claim against the at-fault party in order to be compensated for their loss. For more information on the wrongful death claims process, please call 866-981-5596.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis & Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Jungil Lee.
