Indio: Vehicle Struck, Killed Pedestrian

At about 6:25 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2014, a vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian in Indio, reported the Los Angeles Times. The accident occurred at the intersection of Clinton Street and Avenue 46. Authorities declared the victim dead at the scene. The accident is under investigation.
Motor vehicle collisions claimed the lives of or caused injury to 250 people in Indio in 2011, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current records. Pedestrians accounted for 11 of the victims. The OTS compares the crash data of cities with populations of a similar size, giving those with the poorest records the highest rankings, starting with 1st place. That year, Indio ranked 62nd for motor vehicle collisions and 84th for pedestrian accidents.
