Jamestown: Three Killed, One Seriously Injured in Head-On Collision

Posted on Mar 18, 2013

Shortly after 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, three people were killed and another was seriously injured in a head-on collision near Jamestown. While traveling eastbound on Highway 120 in a 2000 Toyota, a 59-year-old male driver from Manteca veered into the opposing lane of traffic, colliding with a 1999 Acura. The impact killed the driver of the Toyota and of the Acura, a 51-year-old man from Roseville, as well as a 65-year-old female passenger of the Acura. Emergency responders airlifted another passenger of the Acura, a 57-year-old woman from Roseville, to an area hospital to receive treatment for major trauma. The accident is under investigation.

“After a fatal motor vehicle crash, the at-fault party may be held liable for the expense of the victims’ recoveries through the personal injury claims process,” explained California car accident lawyer James Ballidis. “In the event that a victim does not survive the collision, his or her family may file a wrongful death claim against the negligent driver.”

Traffic accidents in Tuolumne County claimed the lives of 7 motor vehicle occupants and injured another 378 in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. Tuolumne ranked 14th out of the state’s 58 counties for its incidence of fatal and injury crashes in a California Office of Traffic Safety rating system in which 1st place is considered the worst.
