Joshua Tree: Michael David Cottler and Sean Keller Fatally Injured in Crash

Shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2014, 37-year-old Michael David Cottler, of Crestline, and 21-year-old Sean Keller, of Mountain Home, Idaho, were fatally injured in a crash near Joshua Tree, reported The Press-Enterprise. The single-vehicle accident occurred on Alta Loma Drive west of Sunny Vista. Emergency responders transported both men to area hospitals, where they succumbed to their injuries. The CHP is investigating the accident.
Throughout San Bernardino County, 11,627 people were killed or injured in crashes in 2011, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. The OTS ranked San Bernardino 38th out of 58 counties for the number of fatal and injury accidents that occurred there that year. Traffic fatalities in California increased 1.5 percent from 2,816 in 2011 to 2,857 in 2012.
