La Jolla: One Killed in Multiple-Vehicle Collision

Shortly after 1 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2014, one person was killed and others were injured in a multiple-vehicle collision in La Jolla. The crash occurred at Soledad Mountain Road and La Jolla Scenic Drive South and sent one vehicle into a utility pole. The occupant of that vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. At least one other person was transported to the hospital. Authorities are investigating the accident.
According to the California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current records, motor vehicle collisions claimed the lives of or caused injury to 17,718 people in San Diego County in 2011. The OTS compares the crash data of California’s 58 counties, giving those with the poorest records the highest rankings, starting at 1st place. That year, San Diego ranked 37th for fatal and injury car crashes.
