Lake Forest: Hit-and-Run Driver Struck and Killed Bicyclist

Shortly after 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13^th, a hit-and-run driver struck and killed a bicyclist in Lake Forest. The accident occurred near the intersection of Serrano Road and Ridge Route. The 47-year-old cyclist was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Witnesses reported seeing a white van leaving the scene of the crash heading north on Serrano Road. The Major Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call 855-847-6227, explains an Orange County injury attorney. 

Lake Forest accounted for none of the 12 fatalities and 19 of the 1,201 injuries suffered by bicyclists in traffic accidents throughout Orange County, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. Statewide, cyclist fatalities decreased by 9.2 percent, from 109 in 2008 to 99 in 2009.
