Lancaster: Semi Struck, Killed 2-Year-Old Girl

Posted on Jun 04, 2014

At about 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, a semi truck struck and killed a 2-year-old girl in Lancaster, reported the Los Angeles Times. The semi driver was turning right at the intersection of Valley Central Way and Avenue J and failed to see the girl and her mother in the crosswalk. Emergency responders transported her to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Authorities are investigating the accident.

The California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current records indicate that 911 people were killed or injured in motor vehicle collisions in 2011. Forty-six of the victims were pedestrians, 11 of whom were under the age of 15. Large trucks were involved in 47 of the fatal and 1,607 of the injury crashes that occurred in Los Angeles County that year.
