Los Angeles: Motorcyclist Killed in Collision

At about 9 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2014, a 50-year-old male motorcyclist was killed in a collision in Los Angeles, reported the Los Angeles Times. The rider collided with a motorist in the southbound lanes of the 405 Freeway at Mulholland Drive. Emergency responders transported him to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities are investigating the crash.
In 2011, 72,593 people were killed or injured in traffic accidents that occurred in Los Angeles County, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety’s most current records. Motorcyclists were involved in 3,155 of the fatal and injury accidents. Los Angeles ranked the 9th worst in the state for traffic safety that year.
