Another pedestrian is on life support after an Orange County pedestrian accident.
A pedestrian was seriously injured after being he was hit by a car in Santa Ana. The accident occurred just after 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 18 on the 2100 block of East Santa Clara Avenue. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital where he is on life support.
The driver stopped his car after the accident. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor and the driver was not arrested.
Pedestrian accidents occur throughout Orange County. Many of these accidents occur because drivers fail to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks.
On December 14, the La Palma, Cypress, and Los Alamitos police departments issued 56 citations over a four hour period to drivers who failed to yield to pedestrians in marked crosswalks. In California, drivers must yield to pedestrians who have the right of way in both marked and unmarked crosswalks.
