Mattel Inc. has agreed to settle a consumer lawsuit over toys containing lead paint made by Fisher Price.

Recently, Chinese made toys, shipped to the US, contained lead and were identified as a potential health hazard for toddlers and children.  Lead has been linked to irreversible brain cancer and because of the finding of the substance in paint on the toys, the toys had to be recalled.

The proposed settlement is not in the form of a cash payment to any victims of lead poising, but rather a refund to those who purchased the toys.  If you purchased a Fisher Price toy that was later identified and recalled, and you have not been notified of the class status, you should contact the Law offices of Whatley, Drake & Kallas regarding your rights. 

The toys affected were popular lines including Sesame Street, Dora the Explorer, and Diego toys made by Fisher Price.  Also implicated were Mattel toys Batman, Polly Pocket, and Barbie accessories.
