Menifee: Teen Driver William Johnson Caused Rollover Accident that Injured Three
Posted on May 07, 2012
Shortly before midnight on Saturday, May 5th, a teen driver caused a rollover accident that injured three in Menifee. While traveling westbound at a high rate of speed on Garbani Road, 19-year-old William Johnson lost control of the Chevrolet pickup and it rolled over, ejecting two teenage passengers. When firefighters arrived, one teenager was trapped under the vehicle. Paramedics transported the three passengers—their injuries ranging from critical to moderate—to local hospitals. Johnson was not hurt. Authorities are investigating the crash.
“When a person drives negligently and causes an accident resulting in trauma to his or her passengers, he or she may be legally obligated to compensate them for expenses incurred during their recovery,” explained California personal injury attorney James Ballidis.
Menifee accounted for 8 of the 172 fatalities and 251 of the 10,963 injuries suffered by motor vehicle occupants throughout Riverside County in 2009, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. That year, the California Office of Traffic Safety ranked Riverside 35th out of 58 counties for speed-related collisions, an above average ranking considering that 1st place is considered the worst.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to wish a full recovery to the three passengers who were injured in the rollover accident caused by the teen driver.
