Mentone: Bicyclist Injured in Collision with Vehicle

At about 2:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 25, 2014, a bicyclist was injured in a collision with a vehicle in Mentone, reported The Press-Enterprise. The accident occurred in the 1300 block of Beryl Avenue. Emergency responders transported the rider to an area hospital to receive treatment for head trauma. Authorities are investigating the accident.
Throughout San Bernardino County, 11,627 people were killed or injured in traffic accidents in 2011, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. Bicyclists accounted for 365 of the victims. The OTS ranked San Bernardino 39th out of 58 counties for its incidence of fatal and injury bicycle accidents in a rating system in which 1st place is considered the worst.
