Monterey Park: Ferrari Driver Fu Duan Killed in Crash

Shortly after 2 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014, 21-year-old Fu Duan was killed in a crash in Monterey Park, reported the Los Angeles Times. A speeding Hyundai struck the Ferrari Duan was driving near the intersection of North New Street and East Garvey Avenue. Duan suffered fatal trauma. His passenger was seriously injured. The driver of the Hyundai was also injured and is being investigated for driving under the influence of alcohol. The crash is under investigation.
Traffic accidents claimed the lives of or caused injury to 207 people in Monterey Park in 2011, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. Alcohol was a contributing factor to 15 of the fatal and injury crashes. Thirty-one were speed related. Across the state, 2,857 people lost their lives in traffic accidents in 2012, a 1.5 percent increase from the year prior when 2,816 people were killed.
