More Than 20 Pasadena Teens Injured in San Bernardino Bus Accident

A bus carrying a Pasadena church group of teenagers crashed and slid off a highway in the San Bernardino Mountains.  The driver was killed and more than 20 others were hurt.
 
The California bus accident occurred on Monday, February 21.  The teens, members of the Light of Love Mission Church in Pasadena, were headed home from a weekend retreat at Pinecrest Christian Conference Center when their bus collided with another vehicle.  The road was snowy and the bus slid off the highway and down a hillside.  It hit a power pole and a tree before coming to rest.
 
The driver of the bus, identified as 61-year-old Won Seok Chae, died at the scene.  Twenty four others were injured, including the two occupants of the SUV.  The other 22 were high school and middle school students on the bus.  Ten of the students were pinned under their seats in the crash.
 
Highway 189 was closed until late Monday while victims were evacuated and the wreckage was cleared.  The accident remains under investigation.
