Moreno Valley: Vehicle Struck, Injured Boy

Shortly after 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014, a vehicle struck and injured an 8-year-old boy in Moreno Valley, reported The Press-Enterprise. The accident occurred at Alessandro Boulevard and Day Street. Emergency responders freed the boy from under the vehicle and transported him to an area hospital. Authorities are investigating the crash.
In 2011, 795 people were killed or injured in traffic accidents that occurred in Moreno Valley, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. Forty-seven of the victims were pedestrians, 15 of whom were under the age of 15. Throughout the United States, a pedestrian was killed every two hours and injured every seven minutes in 2012. More than one-fifth of the children ages 10 to 15 killed in traffic crashes were pedestrians.
