News Update: Orange Hit-And-Run Driver Arrested

In June, we posted a news article about an Orange hit-and-run accident that left a four-year-old girl critically injured. This week, police arrested the driver who caused the tragic Orange County car crash.
 
Four-year-old Ava O'Connor was injured on June 20 when her family was returning home from Pretend City in Irvine.  Her mother, Anette Argo, was driving when an SUV hit the family vehicle and forced it off the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway and into a ditch.  The driver of the SUV left the scene.  
 
Ava sustained critical injuries and underwent a tracheotomy and more than nine hours of surgery to fix her jaw, upper palette, eye sockets and nose. Her brother Gaven suffered a broken collar bone. Her mother suffered extensive damage to her right leg.
 
On Monday, police arrested 41-year-old Sarwat Syed of Ladera Ranch.  She was identified as the hit-and-run driver from an insurance claim that she made on June 21.  Police were able to match her vehicle with a partial license plate.
 
After her arrest, Syed was released from Orange County Jail on $50,000 bail.
 
Ava is out of danger and recovering at home.
