Pasadena: Vehicle Struck, Fatally Injured Bicyclist Phillip Jordan O'Neill
Posted on Jun 18, 2013
At about 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, a vehicle struck and fatally injured 25-year-old bicyclist Phillip Jordan O'Neill, of Los Angeles, in Pasadena. The motorist struck O'Neill from behind as he rode in the 1100 block of East Del Mar Boulevard between Wilson and Michigan avenues. He was transported to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities are investigating the bicycle accident.
“When a motorist’s negligence causes the death of a bicyclist, he or she may face a wrongful death claim from the family of the victim,” explained California bicycle accident lawyer James Ballidis.
In 2010, traffic accidents claimed the lives of or caused injury to 89 bicyclists in Pasadena, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. The OTS ranked Pasadena 4th out of 53 cities with populations of a similar size for its incidence of fatal and injury bicyclist accidents in a rating system in which 1st place is considered the worst.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Phillip Jordan O'Neill, the bicyclist whom the vehicle struck and fatally injured.
The Los Angeles Times originally reported this Pasadena bicycle accident.
