Pearblossom: Female Bicyclist Killed in Accident

At about 7:42 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014, a female bicyclist was killed in an accident in an unincorporated area of the Antelope Valley called Pearblossom, reported the Los Angeles Times. A motorist struck the woman at Longview Road and Le Page Ranch Road. She was declared dead at the scene. The accident is under investigation.
Thirty of the 542 people who lost their lives in traffic accidents in Los Angeles County in 2011 were bicyclists, according to the California Highway Patrol’s most current crash data. Cyclists accounted for 542 of the 72,056 people who were injured in collisions that year. Compared to 57 other counties in California, Los Angeles ranked the 8th worst for bicycle accidents.
