Pedestrian Accident: Two Children In Critical Condition
Posted on Sep 01, 2010
Some time around 12:30 p.m. today the driver of a tow truck struck a mother who was pushing her two young children in a stroller through a crosswalk. Under the influence of drugs, the driver did not notice that he was dragging the children down the street. Bystanders were able to flag him down, at which point he stopped the vehicle. The pedestrian accident occurred in Oxnard. The mother and her two children are receiving treatment at Ventura County Medical Center. Police have detained the driver.
“To operate any vehicle is a tremendous responsibility, and this man's decision to drive a commercial truck while under the influence of drugs was an act of egregious negligence,” responded an Orange County accident attorney upon receiving the news.
Two-thirds of all pedestrian accidents occur within the boundaries of a crosswalk, explained the Orange County accident attorney, and the risk increases with the number of lanes the highway has. When alcohol or drugs are involved, the risk of an accident increases substantially.
