Posted on Mar 06, 2014
At about 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, one person was injured and one was killed in a crash on the Ramona Expressway in Perris, reported The Press-Enterprise. A red pickup truck collided head-on with a silver sedan near Rider Avenue, just south of the southwest corner of Lake Perris. Emergency responders airlifted one person to a hospital and transported the other by ambulance. The coroner’s investigator was summoned shortly after 6 p.m. The accident is under investigation.
According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, motor vehicle collisions claimed the lives of or caused injury to 155 people in Perris in 2011. The OTS compares the crash data of cities with populations of a similar size, ranking those with the poorest records the highest, starting at 1st place. That year, Perris ranked 87th out of 102 cities with populations of between 50,001 and 100,000 for the number of fatal and injury accidents that occurred there.
After a collision, those who were injured or who lost loved ones may file civil claims against the at-fault party in order to obtain compensation for the expenses associated with their recoveries or losses.
