Pregnant bicyclist killed in hit-and-run accident

A pregnant woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Garden on Thursday night as she was riding her bicycle. Police say they need any information the public can offer.
 
The Orange County bicycle accident occurred at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, August 12, 2010. Thirty-one-year-old Jennifer Costlow was riding her bicycle southbound on Normandie Avenue and Gardena Boulevard when she was hit by a car from behind. The driver slowed, turned on the bright lights and then fled the scene.

Costlow who was four months pregnant was rushed to a local hospital for treatment of severe head injuries. She did not survive.

Her boyfriend was riding with her at the time of the bicycle accident. He was not hit. The couple has a three year old child.

Police said they few clues and only know that the vehicle was a dark-colored two-door vehicle. They are asking anyone with information to call the Gardena Police Department at (310) 217-6135.
