Posted on May 01, 2013
At about 12:30 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 39-year-old Tedra Morris, of Moreno Valley, was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Riverside. Morris was a passenger in a Saturn that was struck by a Chevrolet truck that ran a red light at the intersection of 14th Street and Sedgwick Avenue. Morris was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Saturn, 68-year-old Robert Blackman Jr., died at an area hospital. The driver of the truck, 31-year-old Alex Ralph Garcia, fled the scene but later turned himself into authorities. The accident is under investigation.
“When a family loses a loved one to a crash, they may hold the at-fault driver liable for the expenses associated with their loss by filing a wrongful death claim,” explained California car accident lawyer James Ballidis.
The city of Riverside accounted for 15 of the 164 fatalities and 1,898 of the 10,594 injuries suffered by motorists in crashes that occurred in the county in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. Hit-and-run was a factor in 100 of the crashes that resulted in injury or death in the city that year.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the families of Tedra Morris and Robert Blackman Jr., the driver and passenger who were killed in the hit-and-run crash.
