Riverside: Two Injured in Canyon Crest Crash

At about 3:15 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, 2014, two people were injured in a crash in the Canyon Crest neighborhood of Riverside, reported The Press-Enterprise. The collision occurred at Central Avenue and Lochmoor Drive. Emergency responders extricated one driver who suffered major trauma from the wreckage. Another driver sustained minor to moderate injuries. They were both taken to area hospitals. Witnesses are asked to call Detective Rick Prince at 951-351-8722.
In 2011, the most current year for which California Office of Traffic Safety accident data are available, 1,327 people were killed or injured in crashes that occurred in the city of Riverside. The OTS ranked Riverside 8th out of 13 cities with similarly sized populations for its incidence of fatal and injury collisions that year; 1st place is the worst possible ranking. The number of accidents that occurred in California in 2012 was 1.5 percent higher than in 2011, 2,857 compared to 2,816.
