San Diego: Motorcyclist Killed in Collision with Car in Bay Park
Posted on Jun 26, 2012
At about 5:50 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26th, a 51-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a car in the Bay Park neighborhood of San Diego. The crash occurred when the driver of a Mitsubishi Eclipse made a U-turn in front of the rider on Morena Boulevard near Paul Jones Avenue. The motorcyclist slammed into the side of the car, sustaining major trauma. Paramedics transported him to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later. Authorities are investigating the accident.
“When a motorist’s negligence causes another to suffer fatal injuries, the family of the victim may pursue a wrongful death claim in order to hold the motorist liable for their loss,” explained California motorcycle accident lawyer James Ballidis.
San Diego County accounted for 37 of the 383 fatalities and 1,026 of the 10,479 injuries suffered by motorcyclists in traffic accidents that occurred throughout California in 2009, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. The county ranked 38th out of 58 counties for its incidence of fatal and injury collisions in a California Office of Traffic Safety ranking system in which 1st place is the worst.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of the motorcyclist who was killed in the collision with the car in Bay Park.
