San Diego: Vehicle Struck, Killed Pedestrian Gabriela Alexandrescu
Posted on Mar 08, 2012
Shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 25th, a vehicle struck and killed 62-year-old pedestrian Gabriela Alexandrescu in San Diego. The accident occurred at the intersection of Reynard Way and Redwood Street when a Honda Civic struck Alexandrescu as she crossed. Paramedics transported her to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries.
“Unfortunately, a decline in fatal motor vehicle accidents has been accompanied by a rise in traffic-related pedestrian deaths,” explained California personal injury attorney James Ballidis.
The city of San Diego accounted for 18 of the 57 fatalities and 523 of the 997 injuries suffered by pedestrians in traffic accidents in the county in 2009, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. Statewide, pedestrian fatalities increased 5.4 percent from 567 in 2009 to 599 in 2010.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Gabriela Alexandrescu, the pedestrian who was struck and killed by the vehicle on February 25th.
