San Pedro: Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident

Shortly after 2 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, July 3^rd, a 34-year-old male pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver. The accident occurred near the intersection of Pacific Avenue and 14^th Street. The man was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. Witnesses described the vehicle as a white Ford F-150 pickup truck with either a gold or silver stripe, explains a California personal injury lawyer. 

San Pedro accounted for 7,008 of the fatal and injury motor vehicle accidents involving pedestrians that occurred in 2009, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. That year, there were 6,264 fatal and injury hit-and-run accidents. Throughout the state, 563 pedestrians were killed, a 9.2 percent decrease from the previous year.
