Santa Ana: Motorcyclist Dennis Zafran Fatally Injured in Crash
Posted on Oct 26, 2012
Shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 61-year-old motorcyclist Dennis Zafran, of Anaheim, sustained major trauma in a crash in Santa Ana. While riding at approximately 30 mph near the intersection of MacArthur and Harbor Boulevards, a vehicle stopped abruptly in front of Zafran, forcing him to change lanes, brake, and lay down his bike to avoid a collision, which is when he was thrown from the bike. He received surgery for multiple fractures and internal injuries at an area hospital. Unfortunately, his injuries proved fatal, as he died from medical complications last Wednesday.
“When an accident results in a fatality, the family of the victim may hold the negligent party liable for their loss,” explained a motorcycle accident lawyer in Orange County.
Santa Ana accounted for 1 of the 20 fatalities and 50 of the 756 injuries suffered by motorcyclists in crashes that occurred in Orange County in 2010, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System. The incidence of fatalities among riders in the state that year decreased 10.7 percent from 394 in 2009 to 352.
All of us at Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie would like to offer our condolences to the family of Dennis Zafran, the rider who was fatally injured in the crash.
