Toyota Finally recalls cars for acceleration issues

In a sudden change of position, Toyota is finally listening to governmental and consumer complaints about unexplained acceleration problems in their cars.  While they contend that the problem may be caused by floor mats, this is a good step in the right direction.  National media attention was thrust on Toyota in recent weeks when a CHP officer, while off duty with his family called 911 to report his car was accelerating out of control.  There was even time for a prayer.  This gruesome call, turned the tide on a contentious refusal by the auto maker to address many sudden and unexplained acceleration problems.  We hope this will lead to identifying the cause and correcting it before more families are tragically harmed.
