Trabuco Canyon: Alexis Perez Salmoran Arrested for DUI Rollover Accident
Posted on Aug 28, 2012
At about 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, 22-year-old Alexis Perez Salmoran, of Santa Ana, was involved in a rollover accident while driving under the influence in Trabuco Canyon. While traveling in a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado on Trabuco Creek Road, Salmoran lost control of the vehicle when he made an unsafe turn east of Trabuco Canyon Road, causing it to overturn. Salmoran and a 39-year-old passenger suffered major trauma. Paramedics transported them to a local hospital, along with two other passengers who were also injured. Authorities arrested Salmoran, who is not licensed to drive, on suspicion of driving under the influence causing injury. He will be taken into custody once he is released from the hospital. Witnesses to the crash have been asked to contact the California Highway Patrol at 949-487-4000.
“Victims of collisions caused by drunk drivers may pursue compensation from them through the personal injury claims process for their medical- and other injury-related expenses,” explained an auto accident attorney in Orange County.
In the United States, impaired driving is a serious traffic safety problem, with alcohol-related collisions claiming the lives of about 30 people a day. A life is lost every 48 minutes. In 2009, 10,839 people were killed in such accidents, which accounted for nearly 32 percent of all traffic fatalities in the country, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
