Tustin: Two Injured in Head-On Collision

Shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2014, two people were injured in a head-on collision in Tustin, reported the Orange County Register. The two-vehicle collision occurred on Edinger Avenue near Jamboree Plaza. Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to free a 20-year-old male passenger from one of the vehicles. Displaying a ‘decreased level of consciousness,’ he was taken to an area hospital in serious condition. The driver of the other vehicle, also a man in his 20s, was also hospitalized for his injuries. Authorities are investigating the accident.
Motor vehicle collisions resulted in injury or death 307 times in Tustin in 2011, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. Comparing the incidence of crashes in 102 cities with populations of between 50,001 and 100,000, the OTS ranked Tustin 39th in a ranking system in which 1st place is considered the worst. Crashes involving drivers under the age of 34 claimed the lives of or caused injury to 19 people in the city that year.
