Westwood: Sheri Myers Olman Killed in Crash on Sunset Boulevard

At about 6:10 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014, 54-year-old Sheri Myers Olman, of Santa Monica, was killed in a crash on Sunset Boulevard in Westwood, reported the Los Angeles Times. While traveling westbound in the 10200 block of Sunset, the driver of a blue 2013 Maserati crashed into Olman’s blue 2008 Honda Fit, which was headed eastbound at the time. Emergency responders transported two passengers in the Honda to an area hospital. Authorities are investigating the crash.
The number of traffic fatalities in California increased 1.5 percent from 2,816 in 2011 to 2,857 in 2012, one of the lowest levels recorded since the federal government began tracking them in 1975, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety. Los Angeles County ranked the 9th worst in the state for the number of fatal and injury accidents (72,593) that occurred there in 2011. Nationwide, 32,367 people were killed in motor vehicle collisions in 2011, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
