Whitewater: Crash Killed One, Injured Five

At about 2:19 a.m. on Friday, October 17, 2014, a crash on the westbound 10 in the Whitewater area north of Palm Springs killed one person and injured five others, reported The Press-Enterprise. Emergency responders transported two people to the hospital to receive treatment for major trauma, one for moderate trauma, and two for minor injuries. The accident is under investigation.
In 2011, the most recent year for which California Office of Traffic Safety crash data are available, 10,924 people were killed or injured in accidents that occurred in Riverside County. Compared to 57 other California counties, Riverside ranked 53rd for collisions in a ranking system in which 1st place is considered the worst. Nearly a thousand of the fatal and injury crashes that occurred in the county that year occurred between the hours of 9 p.m. and 2:59 a.m.
